Barbara Wilson

Barbara Wilson is an active member of the Ottawa Community. She currently serves on Jaku Konbit’s board as the treasurer. She also assists with JK programming such as Black Star Tutoring, Green Star Enterprise, the Youth Summer Employment Program, and annual Kwanzaa celebrations.

In addition, Barbara currently volunteers her time as Chairperson for the Sickle Cell Disease Parents’ Support Group and as Vice President of the National Institute of Jamaican-Canadians, while claiming membership in the Jamaican (Ottawa) Community Association, The City of Ottawa, and the Multicultural Health Coalition. She also assists with the launch of Ottawa’s Black History Month.

Barbara has received the following for volunteering her services in Ottawa:

  • a certificate from the Government of Canada in 2005
  • the United Way Community Builders award in 2006

Her hobbies include reading, listening to music and going on nature walks.
